She is the author of two American Book Awards winners: "In Mad Love and War" and "Crazy Brave", and was executive editor of the groundbreaking "When the Light of the World Was Subdued, Our Songs Came Through: A Norton Anthology of Native Nations Poetry". She was the first Indigenous Poet Lau-re-ate and served three terms from 2019 to 2022.
