N'gen - Sharks & Rays
Meet our friend, the coral. Corals are tiny sea creatures that build homes that look like plants or rocks, and these homes can grow to the size of a mountain or a forest underwater. Other sea creatures, like fish, rays, and sharks, use the coral's homes to raise their young and as hunting grounds. The coral also depends on these creatures for its survival: if any of them disappear, the coral will grow weak and may even die. This is a very serious issue, as corals produce huge amounts of oxygen that all living things on the planet need to breathe and make energy. So, if the sharks and rays disappear, so will the corals, and then the whole planet will be in danger. In this episode of N*gen, we dive into the Indian Ocean near Zanzibar to explore how all life on planet Earth is connected through ecosystems. Every living thing exists in balance with other living things and contributes to the planet's survival.
