Legislation has been introduced in the U.S. Congress to address federally run-boarding schools. The bill, co-sponsored by two Native American members, if passed into law, the act would establish a formal commission to investigate the federal government's policies on Indian boarding schools. The popularity of Two-Spirit powwows is growing. The inclusive gatherings recognize and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. The 13th Annual Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirit Powwow in San Francisco, California, is believed to be the first Two-Spirit powwow in the country. Angel Fabian is the executive director of the Bay Area American Two Spirits.
