KTWU is facing the impact of federal funding cuts while also taking on additional operating costs previously covered by our licensee. This year, approximately $2.4 million must be raised from generous members like you to keep KTWU strong and serving communities throughout eastern Kansas and surrounding areas.

Without your continued help, KTWU may be unable to afford the rights to the programs you love, create valued local programming or hire the staff needed to properly serve our community. “Neighborhood Nights” are special LIVE fundraising evenings that bring our community together in support of KTWU.

Funds raised during these evenings help us purchase the rights to programs you cherish, create local programming and continue providing valuable community services. Programs feature LIVE breaks with local talent, KTWU employees and community members, who share information about the featured programs and invite viewers like you to make a gift of support. Some Neighborhood Nights may feature special matching opportunities that can double the impact of your donation!

Over the past twelve months, these evenings were called “Sustain Our Station Nights” (SOS). Live SOS programming in April 2026 featured “Life Unearthed with Ariel Waldman,” with National Geographic explorer, filmmaker and writer Ariel joining us to discuss her program and share ways viewers could assist KTWU. In January 2026, we had a dollar-for-dollar match opportunity that doubled every donor’s contribution amount that evening.
